Can't print from Internet -Help!

Could anyone point this techophobe in the right direction please.
I tried to update aVG before I went on holiday and couldn't, so i'm still on v 7.5 as its still updating. and I have family coming so busy.
I can't stay on computer too long cos injured back and i'm in agony, so now going off. But i have iE 7, and XP.
I can no longer print from the Internet, it prints, say, 'Google mail' but no content.
I have tried cutting and pasting to Word but still it won't print the content. Is there a simple solution? I'm panicking now, when computer goes wrong i'm terrified!!

You sure theres ink in the cartridges,

Thanks for your reply, and yes, there's ink in the cartridges! I did try to print the whole screen in googlemail -it printed everything except the message!.
Its sort of doing all the background stuff, but not the content.
Also can't print from any websites at all, its like its hiding all the words.
Normal stuff in word, letters etc it will do!!?!

Thanks for avg link, will try once children go home. Did it twice before and it said something like installation failed.
