Forgot to put out the bin!

It had to happen some time I suppose. We have fortnightly bin collections and I missed it today. Bin full. Council will not take excess so what to do with next two weeks rubbish. Environmentally which is worse? Pollution from car in making 20 mile round trip to dump or pollution from bonfire? The latter is obviously cheaper. Is there a third way?

Yes, move two doors down from me. It's a nice little house right in the centre of town but down an alley and very quite.

No garden and no parking space within half a mile, but you get a bin collection every Monday then another one every Tuesday.

The bin men will take anything away, without question, as long as it is wrapped in black plastic. Even a double bed if you cut open a few black bin bags and tape them together and use them to wrap the bed.

On the down side, if you don't wrap your items in black plastic bags the bin men still take it away, but someone from the council sends everyone in the alley asking them who it was and could they not do it again.

The other down side is every fercker for miles dumps their rubbish down our alley.

On the good side, the counter at the council offices is 7 foot wide. Man that counter has saved my freedom more times than I have hot dinners.

you could stand in it to compact it a little, I find I can get another half a bin out of mine one I have stood in it,although I have not had to do this for a while.

My bin men are like geordie Joes, they will take anything, I have put double glazed windows and the bricks that were around my fire place in the bins!

I have found that if I recycle I don't need to put my bin out more than once a fortnight, I havn't forgot yet, but dread it if I do!
The sign of a wasted life is a tidy house, Welcome to the chaos!

Do you have a shopping street near to you, or any street with litter bins on it? Public litter bins are usually emptied every night, especially on a shopping street; I wouldn't suggest trying to get rid of the rubbish already in your bin there, but you could dispose of your daily rubbish for the next two weeks in that way.
I make use of nearby public litter bins if I have something to throw away which is likely to get smelly if left for more than a day or so eg chicken carcase in hot weather (and I do boil it for stock first!)

Just be careful you don't get caught and don't put anything in the bin that will identify you.

    Or it could get expensive.

Good grief! I had no idea so thanks for the warning. I only do it occasionally and as I shred anything with my name and address on it would be hard to trace me, but I had thought that I was making good use of a public resource!

in fact you get more grief for putting your household waste in a public bin, than you would chucking it on the street... go figure...

I burnt it in the end. It was getting too smelly to keep any longer. Living in a rural spot I was able to do it without causing any inconvenience to neighbours?
