  • Hope it helps. My level was 7.4 6 weeks ago. I just booked in for another test next week.
  • Good luck, has your doctor put you on statins to help reduce your levels?

Brilliant - thanks for this - my Nan's just got out of hospital following 2 heart attacks and angioplasty.....apparently her cholesterol levels were sky high - so this will come in very handy for her!

The same thing happened with my husband, the doctor didn't want to pay for statins for the rest of his life, so we paid to see a specialist privately, he has been on statins (paid for by our doctors practice) ever since, because the consultant thought it necessary, about 5 years now, and his cholesterol level has only just come down to normal, the doctor however, did advise him to see the dietician for advice about lowering his cholesterol levels through diet, I suppose it depends for you whether you have high or low HDL or LDL the good and bad, it might be, like me, that your overall level is high, but it could be high in the good cholesterol and low in the bad, if I were you I would definately be asking more questions. Hope this helps.
