How does it work? Public ignorance of basic science is usually enough although it helps that people - even when they know they've been conned - value things they've paid for rather than value things that are free, such as common sense.

It saddens me to say that I bought one of these pieces of plastic with a magnet inside a few years ago when I was younger and more naive. What a complete waste of money!

Anyone dumb enough to buy any of this magnetic fakery (including bracelets, wine magnetisers or magnetic dog collars) should also consider buying my AutoSnake Oil™. I'd love to tell you what's in it. I'd love to tell you how it works. I'd love to tell you what it does. You just wouldn't understand. Trust me - it just works. Buy now to beat the autumn price rise. £55 for 5 litres or £120 for 10 litres.

I didn't personally buy a magnetic dog collar but we do have one, and it does appear to work.

With it being worn by a dog I wouldn't have thought it could be a placebo affect.

My sister bought it a few years ago for our dog at the time that was getting old and didn't move as freely as she once did. There were no changes in diet or exercise, or anything else for that matter that could have made the difference, but it gave her a new lease of life.

Unfortunately she's no longer with us but another of our dogs is now getting old and also appears to be benefitting from the magnetic collar.

I don't know, or particularly care how or why, but it seems to work in our case. It's not really until we forget to put the collar on when we actually notice the difference, she just doesn't have as much energy and her joints get stiff.

I suppose someone could just argue that she's not actually better, we just perceive her to be. But, the differences are huge in some instances and as I mentioned earlier it's not until we notice her going stiff and not moving as freely that we remember she hasn't had the collar on.

When you say she is better....

Does she run much faster TOWARDS the car when she is wearing the collar??:rotfl:

(only kidding,I know how not nice it is to have an ageing pooch. Even if the difference is only percieved then its helping YOU feel better, and that has to affect how the dog feels.)
