adding wife to bank acc

hi again
after being advised by pay plan to open a bank acc with a different bank i went to abbey and after applying for one i had to wait as it went to the underwriters for validation, i was given a yes and shall be supplied with a cheque book and electron card, no overdraught facility as i told them no to this. the acc is currently in my name as it is my wife who is the more serious debt out of the 2 of us. her work will not pay her wages into the new acc as it doesnt have her name on it. my ques is if i ask abbey to add my wife will they run the same credit check for her and the obvious outcome will be NO, will they then tell me to take my buisness elsewhere as well. we thought if we asked them just for a cash card for my wife on this acc it might help. any ideas suggestions pse.

I've never known there be a problem with wages being paid into other peoples accounts. I've done it loads of times and not just with family either.

I'd give the NHS wages dept a call and ask what the proceedure is if she didn't have a bank account IE say it might was closed by the bank. You might find out something usefull.

She'll just get added on to the account.

    No credit checks.

It'll probably be even easier than in previous years since much of it is done in India now.

I would not shout too loud if I were you. If the bank found out under current money laundering regs they could give you a month's notice to close the account if this practise continued.
