pc won't shut down can anyone help please?

i have recently noticed that when i shut down my pc is doesn't completly turn off.. the light under the opital mouse is still on and when i touch the mouse the monitor and pc come back on i have tried to change any settings i thought might correct this but haven' had any luck
can any one help me please?

Hold in the on/off button and count to 10. This usually closes it all off. xx

Looks like you're putting your machine into Stand By rather than switching it off, are you making sure you're selecting the right option on the shut down menu?

Two things

Is it a wireless mouse? if so they have batteries of their own in, so the PC is off but the mouse is not as it is the batteries that are keeping it on, they have Very low battery requiements.

If you have vista check the settings under power options in the control panel choose what the power button action does normally on the left handside as an extra option.

or hit the computer hard with a hammer found this works as well.
