weighing ingredients. Scale?

My salter scales have given up the ghost and I bought this one in argos, which is faulty and not user friendly, so I have my money back

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/8421564/Trail/searchtext>KITCHEN+SCALES.htm

My scale was like on old friend and it glided between g and oz and ml and fl oz. It was add and weigh and measured liquids and it tucked into a drawer. All I wanted was something similar but that scale I bought this morning has put me right off. What on earth am I going to get? Help

Hi kittie, I was taught at school that scales were not needed and have never owned a set. I have an old tablespoon and use this. Rounded =1oz flour, level=1 oz granulated sugar, rounded for caster sugar and 2.5 level spoons for icing sugar. For coconut/almonds I use the bag as a guide and butter i slice into halves or thirds. This will not work for everyone but will maybe do you until you can get a set you like? I must say though I have measuring cups and use those for Canadian/American books.Hope this helps.

I use old fashioned balance scales with a set of imperial and metric weights so add and weigh is easy - however they don't fit in a drawer........have you tried a kitchen shop website to see if you can spot the ones you want. Who made them?
