I hope this hasn't been posted elsewhere. I did have a quick search. I am making butternut squash soup today and wondered whether anyone knows if it would freeze okay.

Hiya,
I would think that will be fine, I freeze all my soups including pumpkin which is essentially the same as squash.

Whenever I am making soup which I know is destined for the freezer I make it with half the quantity of liquid and I don't put the salt in. That way it takes up half the space in the freezer and adding liquid/salt when reheating is no problem. Sometimes if you put salty things in the freezer than come out tasting even saltier so if you add salt at the end you know it will be just right.
I've got some half&litre size ziptop plastic bag/containers which are designed for liquid freezer storage. I think they came from Aldi but they've been very good. The advantage over ordinary freezer bags is that the tops stay open and the container stays upright while you are pouring the soup/fruit in and you then just have to zip them up.My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

Have also frozen butternut squash soup successfully. We re-use large yoghurt containers (ones with plastic lids not the peel-off sort) or ice-cream tubs, which are exactly the same size as those fresh soups they sell in the chilled cabinets in supermarkets. Just got to find a way now of designing my own soup label to put on it to hide the yoghurt labels!
This is a very handy way of transporting soup if you need to take a packed lunch to work.0 -
Ive just taken to buying some tub-its by baco. They are reusable and hold one large portion of whatever you want. Come in packs of 5 and are suitable for microwave or dishwasher. Not oven tho as they are plastic. Cost about £1.75 . Ive so far used some of them about 5 times and they are still in perfect condition. They stack neatly in the cupnoard too whicjh i find v important. Asda do a similar item which is divided into 2 sections and they are about £1.50 but are only packs of 4.Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0
