Well done on your LBM to start with, one small step.......
I stopped smoking 7 months ago now and if I can do it then anyone can so good luck for when you decide it's time!
As for your grocery spends I'm sure you will be able to keep within that amount, I have two boys who are almost impossible to fill and we manage easily on £120 per month. Try the old style moneysaving board for some tips, there's someone on there who lives on 50p per day!
The best thing I ever did towards saving money was to open a second account. I worked out how much I could afford as spends and how much I actually needed for spends and came up with a reasonable amount which I transfer into my second account by standing order each week. I leave the card for my main account at home so I'm not tempted to use it. There's more than enough in there to cover all my DDs and the amount is slowly creeping up month on month too.
Have you tried www.spendingdiary.com to keep track of your spending? Seeing it all add up soon makes you stop!!Debt busting! Jan 2014 £7632.50 £7445.80
