Advice and a result!

Hi All

Apologies if this has been covered recently but hoping you good peeps can offer some advice.

I had a couple of calls on my mobile today (I didn't answer as I was at work) from a DCA. I've just got home from work and found a letter from the same DCA chasing me for a debt that is not mine. It's not a huge amount - £127 - but even so, it's not my debt!! I am in debt and on a DMP with CCCS but have no debts with the creditor that they are chasing me for. As I know what DCA's are like, I have no desire or intention to ring them but should I write to them and basically tell them to bog off or should I just ignore them and hope that they crawl back into the bottom of the pond that they came from?

On the plus side, I also had a letter from one of my creditors. I had complained to them back in May due to their constant, and I mean constant, telephone harrassment even though I had spoken to them and told them I was on a DMP with CCCS they refused to acknowledge it. However, in the letter they have apologised profusely, admitted it was their mistake (they had lost the CCCS paperwork and not updated their system) and were going to take off the interest that they had been charging me for the last 5 months (since the start of my DMP) and reduce my debt. It's not a huge amount but every little helps. So it proves that being a stroppy, moaning, old bag is not a bad thing!

Sorry, I've waffled a bit :o

    Nice Result.

Re the letter - if they have not specified what the debt is for and are just asking you to phone them, you could ignore it until they send another letter ot the calls start to get on your nerves, but it may be easier to just send the "prove it" letter.
