Freeview Box help

Don't buy it. Although you TV only has two inputs you will need a scart->3xRCA.DazzaMc wrote:Ok. So the cheaper option would be just to plug the freeview box into the video player right?
I've found an scart to rca (2 cables) lead on ebay for 1.99!
Basically, there is:
Yellow - video
White - Left Audio (or Mono Audio)
Red - Right Audio
A Scart->2xRCA will just have red and white. They are designed for connecting set-top boxes/videos etc to hi-fis.
You need to get one with all three outputs (but you won't connect the red to anything).
Hope this makes sense!
Also, I didn't recommend a scart->RCA cable as many are one way (ie. RCA to Scart) which would be the opposite of what you need. Make sure it is Scart->RCA or has an input/output switch on it.0 -
OK.
Or I could just plug it into the scart socket in my video? Then the aerial goes from the video to the tv, so would that work?
Hope I'm making sense!0 -
Would that work, plugging the freeview box into my video player, then having the aerial cable into the video, and a cable from the video to the tv?
It sounds a bit doubtful to me? Watching freeview through a channel on my video player? I guess it could work?
It'll do until I get a new tv... But will it work?
Hope I've explained well enough.
Thanks0 -

The only problem would be if you wanted to watch something on freeview while recording a different channel (eg. BBC1) - as the video would then be in use.0 -
I've just bought a freeview box from Argos for £29.99. Its a Sagem and it is great!
I have plugged mine via scart to TV, then external into the back of the box. If I want to use my Video, I have to unplug the scart from teh Freeview and into my video. I hope thi smakes sense. There are instructions with the Freeview box on how to plug it in if you have no scart, so it simple enough to figure it out.Lovin Boots and other bargainous places!0 -
There lies the problem. I bought a freeview box today. And it came with NO INSTRUCTIONS whatsoever. So you can guess how i spent/wasted my evening.
We tried allsorts, and having it through my video player resulted in either no signal, poor quality channels or certain channels not working.
We then tried it downstairs, with a tv that has scart sockets, and after fiddling for a while it came up with full quality channels - and every channel available!
ARGGHHHH
What a pain.
It's either because it's going through the video player or that the aerial in my room isn't as good as the one downstairs?
Out of curiosity, what do the instructions say you have to do if you haven;t got scart sockets? Use rca cables? I'm wondering if tht will improve the quality from using my video?0 -
Are the channels blocky and sticking, perhaps with a small red square (if they are you will understand this terminology) - if so it is almost certainly the aerial, not the connection from the freeview box to your TV/video. Is it an indoor aerial?DazzaMc wrote:There lies the problem. I bought a freeview box today. And it came with NO INSTRUCTIONS whatsoever. So you can guess how i spent/wasted my evening.

The insructions would tell you different things depending on the box. Some can be tuned on the TV like a normal TV channel - have you tried this?
Most can't though. In that case either connecting through the video or via RF cables are your only real options.0
