As thelurch said your local fire service should fit them as a matter of priority. If you don't have any luck with the fire safety department, then try your nearest fire station. They will probably come out the same day if it is a wholetime station, or if it is retained then it shouldn't take them longer than a week.
There can sometimes be a back log for home safety checks, but that is usually caused by people not being in when we try to book them, or fire calls getting in the way. I presume it is the same throughout the country, but we will fit them in priority cases the same day.0
