Egg Noodles

I don't normally cook with these, but tonight we are having lemon chicken and noodles just seem more appropriate than rice.
I have bought dried noodles which I assume I just bung in a pan like I would with rice and pasta, but how much do I cook? We are quite gluttonous :rotfl: and I normally cook:-
80g of rice per person or
100g of pasta per person.
PS. What kind of veg would go with this? I was thinking beansprouts, but of course my local Somerfield didn't sell them. Hurumpph.

I buy the ones that come in sort of flat tiles, and use one for each person. They cook in just a few minutes.Oh dear, here we go again.0

Thanks for that. I haven't looked to see how they are packed, but hopefully they are tiles like you say.
Bf has just told me that his boss has just treated him to a full on curry for lunch, so he won't want dinner. So it has been moved to tomorrow's dinner now and I just have to find something small for myself.Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

I use two 'tiles' for five - but then I mix with vegetables.
I start the meat dish and boil the water for the noodles at the same time. I cook the noodles for four minutes and drain and allow to get cold. About 8 minutes before the end of the cooking time, I heat some oil in a pan, then stir fry the vegetables (I often buy a pack, but if I'm doing my own, I finely slice chinese cabbage or ordinary cabbage, onion or spring onion, then add a selection of the following: tiny broccoli 'trees', peppers, mushrooms, carrots, courgettes - whatever I have! I usually have beansprouts too. After about two minutes I add a slosh of water to stop them sticking, then add the noodles, and either a sachet of chow mein sauce, or one tablespoon each of soy sauce and sweet chilli sauce, then stir for another minute or two.It is never too late to become what you were always intended to be0 -

Can i suggest you try Rice Noodles, they imo are soooooooo much nicer and healthier.
With noodles, i would have mangetout, red peppers, spring onions, garlic, sliced dried red chilli and a touch of sesame oil and light soy sauce. The Summer Holiday of a Lifetime0 -

Guess they are fresh?! Looks like they have been boiled and are slightly coated in oil. I've never really cookd with noodles, and as I say bought them to try as they were reduced (35p for 410g) :j
I will keep an eye out for rice noodlesA little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Wonder if Tuesday could become noodle day..as in Monday being leftover...We had stir fry noodles tonight as well:)..dh likes his with beansprouts, cabbage, spring onions mushrooms and soy sauce, girls and me have all of above minus onion end of spring onion (dd14 cant stand them!) with chicken mixed with satay sauce..delicious:) I mostly use fresh soft noodles as that's what they all like and have been on offer,3 for 2 for £2.50 (I buy 2 noodles and 1 beansprouts)at Mr S although I have used the dry version and found them as good (as long as family don't see them before they are cooked, odd people!)0

Sounds lovely! I was so surprised at how tasty it was. I threw some cashew nuts and fresh baby tomatoes on top and black pepper. YUMMMMM! :TA little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Hi,
I pour boiled water over mine in a bowl, I find it helps the texture of the egg noodles, and as I have an electric hob which takes forever to heat up
I use one tile per person, more noodles and veg than meat. We like it that way. I make a sauce by adding cornflour slacked with water and adding it to the wok. Mixes with the soy sauce etc and makes a yummy thick savoury sauce. I also use grated ginger and garlic along with the veg.
Hope that helps
