been jobless for 3 months now, and it's really getting me down.
before my last (temp) job, i was looking everywhere, walking around town, calling agencies etc, but now i sometimes just sit and stare at the tv, thinking about where my life has gone wrong(?)..
searching online just finds stuf which i need extra qualifications for, which i cant afford to get, cos i need a job... catch 22?
the card co's etc are getting heavy on my case, and i just dont know where to go next.
ideas / smiles / virtual kicks up the backside welcome.

Have you put your CV online to job sites like monster.com?
No reason you should be doing all the leg work.
When you say the card companies are getting heavy, are you on a DMP and not making the minimum payments that they would like?
Also - what sector are you trying to get jobs in?
Alot of comapnies get sent CV's etc all the time but if you physically go in to a company and ask to speak to someone you can give your CV to, it puts you a step ahead. They may tell you no thanks, but they will also see you and in talking get an idea of the type of person you are and see if you would work well within the company. It's hard to do cold calling face to face but you need something to give you an edge and get noticed - especially in the current climate.
good luck

Are you getting JSA? Can you do any courses whilst unemployed? They should be free, and you will feel like you are doing something.
Maybe its time to get back out there and let agencies know you are still around? Also, apply to people even if they arent advertising a position, get it there before they advertise. And if you do see a job that requires quals that you dont have then just apply anyway! If you think you can do the job then you have nothing to lose by applying
How about doing some voluntary work, it sounds like you need to get out there and do something so that you stop vegetating in front of the TV. Stop thinking you have gone wrong in life, its just a blip Im sure

Hey, I just wanted to let you know that you're not alone. I'm finding trying to find work at the moment a bit demoralising, I'm reasonably articulate and have a degree but to be honest I don't think that means much. Everything I find seems to want experience, and although I could probably find some admin work I find it a bit soul destroying...and then I wonder why I even bothered doing the degree. I've found one site where they show you the number of applications they've had, one job had 82, and it wasn't uncommon for one to have 30. Tomorrow I'm going to go into town and give every recruitment place I can find my CV, it might help if you could do the same?
P.S. I'm from Brighton too

thanks all- rent and c/tax covered, and getting JSA which just covers the bare minimums, food and utility wise.
with all the experience (accounts / customer service) i have to date, thought would be easy to get permanent work, but not so.. or maybe i am looking in wrog places..
i call the 2 agencies i signed up with weekly (need to keep call cots down!), and a couple of others i dont bother with as poor treatment from them in the past..Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..
