Sky payment incurred me bank charges!

Well said Jay-Jay.
I had this problem with my ISP, who double charged me when switching from dial up to broadband.
They charged for both even though they stated that they would cancel dial up when broadband activated. When I complained they said they couldn't refund until next payment cycle, thus keeping my money for a month.
I just rang my bank, sent copy of letter, and got immediate refund via Direct Debit Indemnity.

THIS IS YOUR RIGHT, if sky don't come up trumps then get onto your bank immediately.I have a cunning plan!
Proud to be dealing with my debts.0 -
Bossyboots has given the right answer.
Furthermore, the OP can document that the amount taken by DD was different from the amount that Sky wrote that they would take. Under these circumstances the bank really ought to waive the penalty charge.0 -
I got a credit applied to my Sky account of £30. I think the main problem was the time it took to get it sorted, but Im satisfied now.
Thanks everyone.0 -

Kerching! :rotfl:
LOL! I have done this (pretty much inadvertantly of course, both parties initially refused to refund). I actually wouldn't take much exception to this (although I can understand the stance the site has to take
)
It never costs your bank anything like £30 to process such an event (more like 30p if that) getting a refund of £30 isn't really putting anyone out of pocket. If it was not caused by your doing, then your bank should not expect you to line their pockets to the tune of £30 in pure profit.
Then to turn to Sky - it's their mistake that you've been messed about, hassled and had to take time out to find out what's gone on, check things and contact people (who probably weren't interested initially) why should you not get some renumeration for your time - even just a free month especially when they are handing out discounts willy nilly to everyone at the moment anyway.
If you mess up then you're expected to pay £30 (well you'll have £30 taken off you more like). Sky HAVE messed up so there's no reason why they shouldn't be paying you £30 for their mistake.
Not even consumer revenge, just fairness I think IMHO. :T0 -
Just letting you all know the latest outcome from this...
I have mentioned already that sky have credited me £30.
Well, I contacted my bank and explained that I cant understand why I should be paying charges for something that wasnt my fault... and their reply was:
"For the statement period of 01-Oct-2005 to 31-Oct-2005, you incurred a 30.00 pounds charge for exceeding the agreed overdraft facility on 12-Oct-2005 by 14.77 pounds.
We have reviewed the fees that you have queried. Although they are technically correct, on this occasion we are happy to agree to refund 30.00 pounds in full."
I think this might be a victory.
Thanks everyone0
