    Yes, basically.

But my school was grade I listed and they still managed to get permission to network the whole place... and by the time they finished the wireless revolution started

FACT - 7 acres in London for just £50m, that's the bottom of the HPC reached and no mistake. Fill your boots!

Houses of this nature are somewhat removed from the property market as a whole.

This is mainly due to the financial nature of the people who are in a position to buy them.

As they are Russian Nationals, they will effectively not be paying any tax on their income earned outside the UK, therefore, they save more than the purchase price in a very short period of time.

Before the Socialists among us start screaming about how unfair it is, it's likely these people are going to spend Millions doing the place up and those Millions are likely to be subject to VAT and will be injected into the British economy.

It's good that people save buildings like this, the alternative would be to see it leveled and some faceless McMansions be constructed in the grounds.

The fact it's listed alters it's value, it's unlikely that it would appeal to developers as they couldn't do an awful lot with it other than refurbish it, then the market for sales is pretty slim to be honest.

English Heritage would drive me potty, I really struggle to understand why they can be obtuse with buildings that are facing dereliction when someone is so willing to rescue it.

Anyone remember the Castle in Skipton featured on Grand Designs? see here:-

This guy had the patience of a saint, I'd have thumped at least two of the EH !!!!! long before we'd got anywhere!
