Hiya,
Trying to find a cheap trangia type camping stove, a meths one with pots. All ebay people or websites have an extra NI delivery charge as usual. Grr! Any one seen any about? Used would be fine .
Thanks.

Your best bet is to join your local free cycle group to see if they have anything.

Forget the meths burners, you will be hard pushed to get refills here.
Better off with the small gas ones for around a tenner, Tesco will have them in seasonal goods section, gas has a hotter flame as well. Refills are £2.50ish0 -
I saw bullet gas ones in tesco, I think they were called that. The only campin stove I have used was a trangia on Duke of ed! Gas scares me a bit. hehe. I was worried about gas canisters but that sounds ok. are the hob ones or twisty type ones where the pot sits on prongs better or does it not matter?0

Try the Scout shop opposite Inst in the centre of Belfast - mind you I would phone them first to check they have them in stock. Have you tried Milletts?“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

meths is redily availabe in b&q for about 1 pound and a 500ml bottle will last you a good few days, the good thing with the trangia is the fact that it is compact and had a frying pan and 2 pots all in one handy pack. all the other stoves that everyone else is talking about end up being more bulky and combersome than anything else.
Stick with the trangia idea. We got a friend one as a present in tisos for 45 quid, bit expensive but that sort of thing will last longer than any of those pathetic little gas burners.0 -

Sorry, I thought the OP meant the meths gel tins, these are in a can and you pop the lid and press it back on again when you are done.
Meths is fine if you just want to heat up a tin of beans, if you want to cook an Ulster fry at the side of the mountain then gas is the way to go.
Anyone who viewed the Apprentice II will know the sausage scenario.
The old expression........... now you're cooking with gas!0 -

Again wrong wrong wrong!!!!! up the side of a mountain! what do you think tranigas were invented for!!!! you have oboviously never used one!
I have used these trangias for 20 years and and they are great, i have cooked various meals on them inculding an ulster fry, boiled potatoes take no time at all.
again once you bring all the other stuff for your gas stove or cooker it just gets combersome!!!!!
TRANGIA EVERY TIME!0
