    Hi Folks,
Is anyone else's freeview box still having problems?
I'm in East Belfast and we've had trouble since the change over on the 18th (especially this weekend!). Most of our BBC channels have poor reception (except BBC 4) and we have basically lost the use of the ITV channels and channel five.
We've rescanned multiple times and it's done no good.
Used to get a lovely clear picture, now... everything is breaking up.
    Thanks,
    BatCat
i'm in BT6 east belfast and my box is grand... i don't even have a rooftop aerial, just a really crappy set top one and i still get all the channels no probs. it's a pioneer box.
  • Hi, I recently bought a freeview box from Tescos, adn had it downstairs, after a few days it updated and added channels (TMF, The hits, Film 4 etc) AFter a weeek or so, I bought another Digilogic box to keep in my bedroom, initially the signal was poor onthe ITV channels, but I purchased a signal booseter which has helped considerably (although channels are not fantastic) But I am missing a lot of channels compared to the set downstairs. Also when I go into the menu for configuration, the layouts are different on both sets...please help!

You need to tell us what type of aerial you are using (indoor/loft/roof) for a start, and whether it is a directly connected or split, and how.

When changing the coaxial cable from the brown analogue type to the digital type, I assume this is the one that runs from the roof aerial to the tv/digibox?

I might well do this as the reception is sh!te in my place and i suspect it is the brown old analogue cable that is not helping.

    Yes.

Also worth noting is that RTE1/2, TV3 TG4 are now on Freeview

Your cable isn't Analogue or Digital ... the signal is. Heres the low down on the cable to ask for (CT100)

Readliy available from hardware shops but for bulk purchase try some of the big cable merchants such as Eurocables, Eds & Eds etc... & if you're in Bangor give "Staks" a bell in Balloo (he supplies Finlay comms the Sky people)

Rescanned 3 times last night, and no RTE in sight. Also lost TMF in the process, which is a disaster as Dora the Explorer helps get our toddler going in the mornings!!

you must have a decent rte picture to begin with, the signal is from the transmitter at the border. The cheapy Sagem box from Argos picks them up ok.
