Strawberries - help needed

I need a bit of help with my strawberries please. I've read some posts on here that talk about re-potting runners or something . . . My plants do have runners - or I think that's what they are, long shoots that have kind of grown out a bit away from the others with leaves on? How do you actually cut them off and repot them? Do you just cut the bit of shoot off anfd re-pot it?
Sorry if I sound a bit thick. Last year was the first time I've tried to grow veg and I've really enjoyed it. I've tried to look at some websites, but they don't explain it simply enough for me

It's getting late now, but still worth a go. If the plantlets on the end of the runners (and they do sound like runners!) have already rooted in to the ground, I personally would leave them there until the spring, and then move them.
If they haven't got any roots on yet, set pots or trays filled with compost or soil, beneath each plantlet (or each pair of leaves). Pin or weight them down (a stick or a small stone) and again, leave until spring - they will root in to the pot and be much easier to move.
Don't let each plant set more than a couple of plantlets from its runners as it might weaken the original plant.
And once you've taken the plants you want, remove all the runners, and don't overcrowd your strawbs or you will wind up with diseases/reduced crops. Ask me how I know that!
That's all I can think of for now - they really really want to produce more plants, so don't panic too much about it! Oh and you don't sound thick at all - I know how to do it, but it's harder to explain than it is to show and I can imagine what it's like trying to understand when you've not seen it before!0
