Glasgow River Festival 19th & 20th July

Hi everyone!
Thought this might be useful for anyone looking for an inexpensive day out this weekend. The Glasgow River Festival from 11am-6pm each day has lots going on to see & do around the Glasgow Harbour/Science Centre area for FREE. Read that there are also free shuttle buses running from Glasgow City Centre, Hamilton, Kilmarnock & Greenock (all first come first served), also free entry to The Tall Ship this weekend only and reduced rate of entry to the Science Centre. OK there`s a funfair and stalls too but if you`re watching the pennies (like me) you could always take a packed lunch and soak up the atmosphere in the sunshine......HOPEFULLY!!!! :rotfl:

At the festival, if you're feeling a lucky ducky - enter the Duck Race, in aid of the Variety Club of Scotland.
Up to 20,000 yellow plastic ducks will race doon the clyde, taking the plunge from the squinty bridge about 5pm on Sunday (dependant on tide).

The ducks cost 5 pounds each, they are all racing to raise lots of money for the childrens charity but also the winning duck, gets a car that's been donated to the charity! You can buy (adopt) a duck at the river festival on either day or you can go to the website www.quackersduckraces.com

My office looks over the Clyde, have just seen a huge navy ship sailing up to the SECC and things are definitely starting to take shape on the Clydeside. Hope the forecasted rain stays away for the weekend!! Have a great time if you go.
