Smile Post Office Deposits

I used to use the Smile freepost envelopes to pay in cheques, but after one with a large cheque in was delayed in the post, I've been paying them in over the counter in the Co-op bank. The cheques are keyed on that day, and then clear a few days later.
I was really busy last week and couldn't get to the bank, so I paid them in over the Post Office counter in a deposit envelope.
I paid the cheques in on Friday afternoon, and they are not showing on my account yet.
Is it normal to take this long for them to show?

Here I go again on my own....

It does seem to take a while for the cheques to show up if you post them or pay them in at PO, because they are NOT keyed in that day but have to get to Smile before being dealt with.Signature removed for peace of mind0

They've shown on the account this morning as cleared funds.
Maybe they don't key them on as uncleared like the branch does

I'm sure they don't key them in at the PO, AFAIK the envelopes are batched up and sent to Smile each day. I know it's not the same bank, but I also used to bank with Alliance and Leicester, same system where you could pay cheques in at the PO in an envelope, and although the PO would stamp my paying-in book to confirm I'd given them an envelope, there was no check on what was in the envelope and they weren't opened until they got to A+L.Becles wrote:They've shown on the account this morning as cleared funds.

I suppose handing them in to the PO might be seen as more secure than just bunging them in the post, but they don't get into your account any faster!Signature removed for peace of mind0
