...or are you a scaremonger ?

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7589291.stm

As I said FTSE at 4000 in 12-17 months...

£2 for a loaf of bread in 2010.

The winter sales will be here in 8 weeks.I remember when it used to be on Boxing Day.Happy Days !

    FTSE AT 4940

Could it really lose another 20 % in 12-17 months ?

Even when I typed 4000 I thought that was maybe over doing it slightly.

The 5h1t has not hit the fan yet and there's plenty to come still...

    Pakistan being a 'wild card'
Winter ...fuel bills cleaning most people out.
  • Ive got a feeling one of my legs might fall off in the next month or so

Trusty- I take it you will agree this will happen but in your opinon more likely to be both legs in an horrific accident ?

Have to say I like your style, no point in beating around the bush!

    200 down today...and still falling....

(it is possible that the powers that be are taking stock exchanges down to frighten Congress in USA to approve the $700billion dollar present to the banks )

.....According to the ‘Purple Book’ of the PPF …”a 2.5% rise/fall in equity prices can mean a £12billion rise/fall in funding of the schemes of PPF members”
    .....

looks like tomorrow will be another bad day....

How much has the PPF got...?

Alistair can you call Mervyn please ?

If you know (or believe) that the ftse will be at 4000 or less in xx years , the you could make Billions, literally by buying options. No need for risky gold or silver and a far higher multiple if things go right. And no VAT, rodney.
Also £20 billion in the pensions game is less than chicken feed, £trillions are what they deal in. Pensions are a 30 year plus investment and have to be looked at as such.

Hope you had a punt on it, because as of now it's looking like a reasonable bet...FTSE 4554.

So another series of bailouts coming on top of the banks.
Eventually the markets will go up.But by then purchasing power will have been destroyed.

Should be on BBC in next 6 months.
Don't rely on PPF (Pension Protection Fund),as they are probably extremely low on capital.
No sooner had they been set up than the queue was round the block (eg MG/Rover)

Look at USA for a sign of things to come.

    Scaremonger..?

If that's what you want to call me be my guest.

Just be prepared is my advice.

Did I hear the word 'pension' mentioned on BBC 10 o'clock news ?

PPF talking about reducing payouts + governement help...no surprise there.

I suppose they will be praying for a recovery...but we haven't seen the true extent of the impact on the 'real' economy (non financials) yet.
    When big retailers and others start failing..what then 3500 ? 3000 ?
