Better Late than never, but am I too late?

Browsing the board I saw I was able to claim back illegal charges from the credit card companies. Out come all the old statements back to year dot when looking through I see a dodgy entry. What caught my eye was the name on the statement and also the fact it was a neat £250 amount.
I did pay the bill, which was back in 2006 which meant I must've checked it then and thought it ok but for some reason now it rings alarm bells.
Is it too late to trace this and possibly do something about it?
Cheers in advance
