career development loans following bankruptcy

Hi everyone,

I will try not to bog down with detail but essentially I have been offered a place at University of Glamorgan beginning in September 2008 and cannot afford my tuition fees. I already hold an (hons) degree from ten years ago and as such my Local Authority will not give ANY financial help other than a Disabled Student Allowance as I am disabled. This also means that I cannot get a Student Loan, as that is also dependant on approval/assessment from my LEA. So, I have applied for every bursary and charitable trust fund which I can but these are small (though helpful) sums of money I am nowhere near my target. Career Development Loans seem the sensible choice but as I went bankrupt 3 years ago I think it highly unlikely that they will be offered to me even though I am discharged and now debt-free. I have also cleared all my existing student loans so my balance with SLC is zero. I am unemlpoyed, on Long-Term Incapacity Benefit but desperately want to get back to work after Uni hence me choosing a design course which my disability will allow !! I simply do not know what to do now, as I cannot find anyone else in the same situation as me......any help or advice would be eternally gratefully received....many thanks, Simon
