Not money saving, but need advice

I just wondered if anyone on here would have any advice
My mother has a Building Society accout with Coventry Building, and the company she works for pays her through their bank Lloyds/TSB by chaps, it goes via HSBC, she should have been paid 4/7/08, but it hasn't arrived yet.
Cov Building say it's nothing to do with them as not their transfer, but they did check payments via chaps for that day and they didn't receive it and not in the floating account. Lloyds/TSB say they sent the transfer and they can't do anything. HSBC say LLoyds need to but a trace on the money, needless to say Lloyds say not their problem.
So over a week later no wages and getting no where fast, company my mum works for is not exactly being over helpful, so what does she do? Who is responsible? Can she make her company pay her again? As chaps payments are insured?
Any help would be appreciated, she lives month to month and has no savings, so she can't pay her rent or bills

Surely the company she works for can ask for copy details of the CHAPS payment from LTSB or is this case where they have the facility to do these payments themselves online?0

Not really sure, I do know the company have been in touch with someone who is involved with the chaps payment and they gave her a number for HSBC's head office and they couldn't do anything with out my mum contacting them in writing!
The company she works for have turned out to be useless and I don't think they believe her and yesterday after asked for her to prove she hadn't received the money by providing a statement?
Just wondering if the money hasn't been received by the employee, have they been paid? Can they insist they are paid again, as they are not responsible for loss of money via the method of payment, if you know what I mean?0 -
The onus is on the company to prove to your mother that she has been paid, otherwise as far as she is concerned she hasn't received payment. It's like a supplier phoning me up saying, "why haven't i been paid?" and then me saying, "you have been paid, by BACS on XX date, look on your bank statement". If they then come back and say "still not on bank statement", i show them a copy of the BACS report which says which sort/account number it went to. If the account number is wrong, the money will bounce back or possibly (but rarely) end up in someone else's account.
Tbh the company are being lazy, they must have paperwork confirming the payment as it's required by auditors. It may be however that they are investigating it with the bank which can take time, but it's two weeks now. Personally i'd be pretty annoyed! Just keep on at them and don't let them fob you off;)0
