Right i need to make 25 handmade christmas presents.
I cannot afford neither than i be bothered with plasticy convenience rubbish this year, i am putting a blanket ban on anything brought (ok i may have to buy components and ingredients) but you get my drift.
I think now would be a really good time to start planning (some herbs may need to be planted)
I have some idea's but please any more would be great.
I was thinking a munch hamper for the adults such as grandparents and parents BIL and SIL'S with some fancy breads (mini french breads, mini boules, cobs, ciabattas and flavoured bread etc etc) hummus, compotes, jams, marmalades, cheeses and some home brewed hooch or an emergency bottle of port/sherry if it goes wrong.
For the teenagers some of those long fashionable scarves or smelly things
And for the kids (there are 3 to buy for) i have no idea
dolls clothes?, mind you our neices dont do dolls just [STRIKE]slapperz[/STRIKE] bratz and pixlechicks
Then we have our children to buy for which are faily easy going.
Any other home made idea's?

Hello!
I've no idea's but I was wondering, are you going to bake all that bread? Will you have a to have a baking day to make it all just before you give them out or can it be preserved and made in advance?
I've always fancied making christmas pressies and have never known where to start!
SRNo outfit is complete without cat hair or baby vomit :j0 -
Hi Lauren,
Last year I made sloe gin, and mars bar vodka for gifts, obviously you will need to buy the vodka and gin, but the cheap and cheerfull supermarket own will do the trick, you can make up several small bottles out of a large bottle of spirit, and it tastes good0 -
Yes, i am going to bake all the bread i reckon christmas eve morning would be the best time, hopefully i have enough time to perfect my breadmaking skilld.
Have noted the sloe gin! I wonder if i can make a cranberry gin or home made advocaat being festive and all?
I might try scouting car boots and freecycle for pots, jars, utensils and wicker hampers or boxes. I did pick up a knitting machine for a fiver on sunday and it works a treat.0 -
Hi there  this thread is better suited to the Celebrations Board, so I'll move it over.

I'm making/putting together most of my presents this year and really enjoying it. These threads aren't food related but may be useful for other ideas...

I saved coffee jars and done two sweetie jar presents for fathers day this year, grand total of £2.00 for the sweets, also done a carwash hamper which was more than £2.00
lol
they were old fashioned sweets from poundland humbugs etc
will find a pic and add it on here, made the labels on pc aswell and glued them on LOL0 -
The artisan stuff rocks (no knead bread) have been a convert for many weeks now.
The kids shall be making the cards, if i bodge it then it wont look so cute as it would if the kids did it.0 -
I've been thinking about trying to do a homemade Christmas this year too! Just wondered what ideas people had for male relatives? I find female relatives so much easier to get ideas for, but I have no ideas for my male relatives! I have my Father and Father in Law,Uncles, aged 50+ and brothers in law, one aged 13 and the others in their 20s. What do you all make for your male relatives?0
