    in the US it's FAR more common for people to move into new builds than here.

    two of my friends in the states have moved in the past few years, and both time they moved into brand new purpose built houses (rather different from what passes as newbuilds here)

    How does that work without a chain then? You sell your house before buying another? What do you do in the time inbetween?

    In my experience, short term apartment rentals are a lot more common over there.
