Hi All,

could anyone please recommend the best rechargeable AA batteries for my digital camera, I have some but the outer casing always seem to bubble.

Cheers,

Kelkiwi
If you have a problem fix it, if you can't fix it don't worry because it will happen anyway! :D

If you've used several types and the casing is bubbling may be more a problem with your charger than the actual battery.
If it's just the outer plastic coating it's not a problem.

Not sure it is a Rayovac battery charger and they seem to last OK was just a bit more concerned with the outer as you say plastic casing that seems to bubble up all the time was just really wondering is there a really good brand that most people use out there?

I think it is best to stick with well known brands for rechargeable batteries.
If you use your camera alot and recharge the batteries often just go for a bundle deal in the supermarket 4 good batteries and a charger can be had for not too much.
If you only use the camera rarely there is a new type of low discharge battery available these have a slightly lower capacity but lose their charge while unused much more slowly than traditional rechargeables. Sanyo Eneloop are a good quality example.

They do cost a little more but the extra time they can hold a charge is useful. They can be charged with any NIMH battery charger.

  • I tend to do a lot of photography and for my hand held cameras that take rechargeable AA's batteries I use Uniross as they always seem to work well for me. Nowadays they are the only brand I stick with as I havbe never had any problems with them myself, so you may want to check them out as an option.

I know you can get them pretty much from most high street stores, and you can get some really excellent deals at online store such as www.powerdrive-computers.com and www.play.com.

  • eneloop are meant to be one of the best, thought they're difficult to find.

The problem I often had was with the rechargeable losing its charge over time when not in use. Until i bought hybrid batteries like Uniross Hybrio. I got mine from wilkinsons. They come ready charged and dont loose their charge so keep a set in the drawer. Not quite as high a mAh (I think they are 2100mAh but check).
  • the unisross green & silver ones work fine for me- esp. the higher capacity (1800m/ah) ones -bought mine at dixons, years ago.
