I've just checked my bank and my OH has been paid £100 Carers Allowance so that's good. :T Haven't had any letters from them yet to confirm the amount we'll be getting or if we're going to get any backpay. But we're going to use that £100 to buy xmas presents for the family, not going mad, just something small for everyone. Only need to buy 6 presents so we should easily manage it.
Then we just have to get each other a few little things so we've got stuff to open on xmas day morning.
Not really into christmas anymore, not since my mum moved a few hundred miles away. We always used to go round to her house and it'd be total chaos, we'd all be bickering, my dad and brothers would go to the pub and it'd take us ages to get them out of there :rotfl: Every year my mum would get so mad :rotfl: Sounds naff but we always had a laugh. Best year was when my dad came back from the pub drunk and then had a go on my nephews moonboot things :rotfl: How he didn't break his neck i'll never know :rotfl: I spent most of last Christmas crying though
I was suffering quite badly from depression at the time and it was the first christmas without seeing my mum, brothers and nephew. But i'm sure this christmas is going to be much better
I'm making dinner at my house for my OH, his mum, her husband and I think my brother and i'll go and see my dad, sister, neice and nephew in the morning.
I'm really waffling aren't I? :rotfl: I'll shut up now
Oh I contacted Payplan today, I know i've already spoken to CCCS but I thought it wouldn't hurt to get two different opinions on the situation. They rang me at 8.15  I'm not in work today so was fast asleep!! We went through most things then she made an appointment to call me back on Monday. Payplan don't take my DLA into account, which means my DMP payments will be lower but that also means it'll take longer to pay off the debt. I'll see what figures they come up with on Monday. If it's going to be a lot longer than with CCCS, I wont bother because I really do want to get rid of this debt as soon as possible.
Really will shut up now

Received a letter from carers allowance today to confirm we are getting £50 a week! :T That'll be such a big help! Is Carers Allowance means tested? Do we need to let them know my boyfriend just started work (the CA is in his name) I need to send a letter to WTC and HB to let them know he started work....don't want them overpaying me. Think happy & you'll be happy

I rang the council today to chase them up and she said you're entitled to £4 a week HB  And no council tax benefit.

But when I rang up before putting the claim in he said I would definitely get HB and CTB and the CTB would cover my council tax. So after the stroppy mare lectured me for daring to get a bit upset about this, I wasn't yelling or swearing, was just annoyed because I haven't paid my council tax for two months on the back of the information I was first given (they told me I didn't have to pay it) she finally told me why I was only getting that much.
It turns out that according to DWP, I am receiving £102 a week Incapacity Benefit  I'm flippin well not! I rang them and they hadn't closed my claim from earlier in the year, I stopped claiming IB in May and went on to JSA and then got a job. I said so how come it says on your system that i'm getting this money every week and yet you haven't paid me a penny or sent me any letters asking for sick notes
He didn't know  So anyway he's closed it now and he's sending me a letter to take to the council to prove that I havne't been getting IB all this time.
What a flippin joke! It's already taken a month for the council to assess the claim and now I've got to wait even longer for this to be sorted
I'm really hoping they pay me enough back pay to cover the council tax now or i'm going to be in big trouble. And even though two different people told me at the council I could stop paying it while the claim was going through, there wont be any records of it so it'll be my word against theirs :heart: Think happy & you'll be happy

Hello

Haven't updated this for a while....
We've finally got the tax credits, carers allowance and housing/council tax benefit sorted. We're getting one payment of £150 from HB/CTB but that's it because my OH is working now but that's enough to cover the outstanding council tax so i'm happy with that
My OH just has to do (and pass!) an assessment then hopefully he should be getting a job as a train conductor, we're thinking it'll be early in the new year but we can wait
The money is almost twice what he's on now so that'll be such a big help.
We've decided to try for a baby so the extra money will come in handy.
Anyway I don't know if anybody actually reads this but I like to keep it updated
