Quick Question, chicken pieces in the slow cooker

HI, just a quick question that I thought someone might be able to answer...I want to cook a couple of chicken thighs and chicken legs (on the bone) then just take the meat off to make a pasta dish (my kids won't eat chicken on the bone, but I bought a bargain pack of that 50p chicken in Morrisons)
Anyway, I was going to just roast it in the oven, but mine is playing up a bit, so thought maybe I could cook it in the slow cooker...
Can I just put it in with a bit of water or something?
