Digital camera reccommendations £100-£200

Please let me know what I can get in this budget that it pretty good. Once I know the cameras to look for I can do the running around deal finding and cashbacking, just do not know where to start!!

If it makes any difference it's for a 40yr old male (not me!)
I'm getting older, and lifes getting harder!

    I've been Money Tipped!
Amazon have these Sonys towards the top end of your price bracket:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0014ZAGYU/pricerunner-21/ref=nosim

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0013IQKES/ref=nosim/2009-console-01-21

Gives you something to aim at, we've had no problems with Sony although they are sometimes a bit dearer.

ok I asked this question about 6 weeks ago and lots of people recommended the Panasonic TZ3.

it is excellent, easy to use, easy video mode, good quality excellent optical zoom and takes SD and SDHC cards which are usually the cheapest memory cards to buy

I think you should be able to get one for about £145 online although you will need to budget for a case and the memory card which will take it up to about£180

    Whats most important to you.
    Size
    Picture quality
    low light performance
    zoom range
    speed of operation

Cameras genrally excel in some areas and fall behind in others. So the best camera for you would depend on what factor is most important.

For me , low light performance ( seeing as a large proportion of my photos are indoors or in the evenings) and size/speed were priorities. So i opted for a Fuji F series camera ( that got consistently good reviews, especially for its performance in low light)

like a fuji 6500fd which has a fixed lens but can shoot in raw format. We have this and are very pleased with it, it costs about £160. Of course it is the same size as a dslr and has many of the same features.
You may of course want a compact, but I thought this should be mentioned as for a while I thought we couldn't afford a camera that shot RAW.

Raw by the way is very easily manipulated in photoshop to correct dodgy exposures, lots of tutorials about this in Digital photo magazine.

Another vote for Fuji cameras here too.

I have a normal camera which I had for a year and then like an idiot dropped it on the floor, I only noticed it was broken when the flash refused to work. I took it into Jessops who sent it off to Fuji - Fuji replaced the camera FOC. Whilst I was waiting for my camera to be fixed (not knowing that I would be getting a new replacement). My eyes alighted on a Fuji S5500 digital camera and I just love it.

It takes video, fab pictures, has a 10x zoom, looks like an SLR but isnt but it does have a shield that you can screw over the lens to shade it from the sun and by the looks of it I could add additional lenses on the front if I wanted to.

    Fuji everytime for me:D

I've just purchased a Fuji S8000fd from the Fuji refurbished website for £119.99 (since reduced to £114.39). My previous camera was also a Fuji refurb - they come to you as new with a 6 month waranty.

I would highly recommend them. I had my previous camera (a Fuji S602) for 4 years without any sort of fault whatsoever.

So was it an upgrade of did it go faulty in year 5?
GOOGLE it before you ask, you'll often save yourself a lot of time. ;)

I have the FujiFilm F30 and it is an excellent pocket camera which takes particularly good photos indoors thanks to its low-light capabilities. I'm sure they'll have a new version out now so check it out!
