Good! This SHOULD be part of an eco debate.
If your patio is cold, wear a jumper.

I agree - these should be taxed like gas guzzlers - CO2 output of these must be HUGE!!! Get a pully - or use the halogen heaters (electric) at least these give out light and heat and probably produce less CO2 at source (power station).

My mate has a chimnea which he fills with wood he picks up from skips on building sites etc. It's brilliant, throws out a huge amount of heat and has to be far more eco-friendly than a gas heater. We are going to get one.

Or, if you're cold, go indoors!

We ought to be charitable and remember that there are lots of people like Beverly out of Abigail's Party who would definitely buy this sort of thing for her guests to keep warm as they munch on a cheesy pineapple stick al fresco in Surbiton. It is not for us to tell these people how to live their lives.

Completely agree with that sentence - I'm fed up of liberal loony lefty do-gooders telling us what we should or shouldn't be doing "for the environment". Just because someone wants to buy a patio heater they're condemned as being destroyers of the world, like they're going to burn them all day long whilst they tear around in their 4x4/hummer throwing plastic containers out of the window!
Spare us the hippy lectures and give us all a break - if someone wants to burn a patio heater for a short while every now and then, let them. Don't suggest they're destroying the planet!! bl00dy holier than thou do-gooders get my back up good and proper so they do

I hope he's careful that this wood isn't pressure treated (as most building wood is) or else he'll find it's giving off more than heat!
