Currently have Playstation 2 for the children to play with. They have been asking for a new games console for ages. thay can not make their mind up which to go for. The eldest is 12 years old. Naturally there are three to chose from :-
1. Playsation 3. I can use the old game on this then again the PS2 will still be used.
2. Xbox 360. Has the bugs been ironed out? Heard the box lock up with a red light on continously?
3. Ninento Wii.
Which of the above would you recommend?
Any good dela going around?
Thanks in advance to those who replied.

My DS:D who is 13 had the PS3 when it first came out he liked it however we have just traded it in for an Xbox 360 as all his friends had one, he chats and plays with them (a little too much at times:eek: ) and prefers it. The guy in the shop said that a lot of people had done the same thing so I think that the Xbox is more popular. We bought a pre owned one and took out extra insurance and everything is fine so far.
I hope this helpsRemember every waking moment is a chance to turn it all around.;) Knowledge is the key to respect.

I have a ps3, and a wii.
The Xbox still has reliability issues, 33% of all consoles get the so called 'red ring of death'. And it overheats alot, online subscripion costs money too, however its still a very good console, and alot more people seem to be on online matches.
PS3 has backwards compatability, very few issues with reliability, and online is free, but I don't think its quite as simple on the menus as xbox live
The wii is something completely different, however I think the novelty wears off a bit, the fact that none of the games have high definition to compare with that of a ps3/xbox, is a downer, but I think it is very enjoyable, but when I got mine, i missed old games, like sports games.
For good deals, I got a great deal on ps3 rom blockbusters, try your local one, when I got mine, I got a 60gb with 3 games and bluetooth headset for £349, at least £100 cheaper than anywhere else!!
Hope this Helps!!
P.M me if you have any more questions!!Started 22nd June - £2008 for 2008 -779 Total: £231
Winnings so far:June -£1, July - Free Pizza £10 - Jumper on Blu-ray £17:D - 2 Tickets to Street life in Birmingham £50 - 6 Tickets to see The Whos Who tribute band £48, 12 Months Eco Web Hosting £120 (Anyone want it?) , £5 pixmania voucher

The Wii does get boring fast, although it also depends on what kinds of games your kids like. The 360 has been around a while, is cheaper, and you can buy lots of games and consoles preowned. Since the PS3 is newer it's more costly although it more "inclusive" (not as many add-ons to buy like wireless router, hddvd drive, etc) PS3 also has bluray....Hope this helps!Debt at highest 01/01/2008- $79,385.32
Debt now 01/03/2009 - $63,194.72

Ps3 cause the games are getting so much better now & the game prices are coming down + it plays blue-ray discs it just out of this world. I hardly touch mine but when i do i get glued to it.0

We have the PS3 and its great.
Built in Blu-ray player is a big bonus too.
BUT.... It IS NOT backwards compatible with your old PS2 games, so you will need to keep your PS2 if you like to play those games.
The first consoles used to be able to play PS2 games but sony downgraded the PS3to make it cheaper to produce.“Careful. We don't want to learn from this.”0 -
We have the wii and its great fun, mario kart is soooooo addictive, and to watch yourself actually doing all the moves for the bowling etc is hilarious.
I am also debating getting a PS3 or Xbox, played on both, and found them both good, but may wait for the PS3 price to hopefully drop a bit.0 -
I have this issue at the moment, but for myself
however i am looking like going for the ps3 now ive done my research
it has a better multimedia side to it,for me i can put divx/avi movie's straight onto it HDD and play from there,it has blu-ray player and seems to be more reliable.dont be put of by the limited games cause they are catching up now.it is also wireless if you are not near your router for online gameplay, the xbox you have to add this (around £35-£50) and around £40 a year for online gameplay, which isnt bad seen as its pretty good.
The xbox 360,still has problems with its RROD,but you have more of a chance it not happening if you make sure the box you buy is a current made one with the new 65nm CPU and 65nm GPU chip,,,the first models had both 95nm chips which run hotter,,they thought it was to do with the cpu so the "2nd" gen boxes had 65nm cpu and 95nm gpu,,towards the end of next yr so ive heard they are realeasing even lower power chips 2x45nm's.,,you can't put movies straight onto them, you have to stream them form your pc or external device.
but they are garenteed by microsoft for 3 years so the rrod is not an issue.
i want the multimedia side you see and a games console wich is why im leaning to the ps3 plus you can upgard the HDD yourself with most 2.5" HDD upto im not sure,i also want wireless, and free online gameplay, but if i only wanted a gaming machine then the xbox is cheaper and there isnt much in the games put next to each other yet.
the wii ive played at house partys is good,,but most people say they get a little board after so long,,not everyone just most ive spoken to.
****btw--only the 60GB PS3 is backwards compatible with PS2 games,,it was the only model made with the "emotion" chip (think thats what it was called),the new 80GB wont play them****Dony worry,be happy...0 -
I tried both the ps3 and the 360
360+ cheaper console, better dashboard for playing online
360- looks pretty ugly...wife hated it, noisy beast...unreliable
PS3+ looks great, quite and a nice solid build, reliable, PShome looks like it has potential
PS3- more expensive than the 360 but you get a BR drive with
IMO, the kids tend to favour the 360 but the more mature 20somethings prefer the ps3 or just buy both. I've known a few people who have sold their 360s once they got the ps3 but never the other way round.0
