Working and bank account

Hi,
Court hearing on 16th of this month (next week)
Iam currently on incapacity benefit but i really want to get back to work, so hopefully i will be fit again next month (august)
I will be going BR next week and as iam no expert i assume i will have a NO TAX code.
Question is if i find work with an employer will they want to know the reason for my no tax code? Will i have to declare to them iam bankrupt?
My other question is about bank accounts, i know from reading posts that co-op offer an account but there are no co-op offices near where i live.
Is there an alternative to the co-op?

Barclays will let you have a basic cash card account. BUT to be honest you can use post office to pay into your co op account. Take cash out at any cash point PLUS you get internet banking. Which is a god send as Barclays only give you phone banking.
Co Op give you an electron card which you can pay with, if cash machine not working. Nothing like that with BarclaysBSC No: 186 There is always light at the end of the tunnel. Unless someone's nicked the candle !

You don't have to worry about the nil tax code as it is none of your employers business why you have it. There are a few reasons for having one so it doesn't automatically mean BR. If they ask just say 'that's what the tax office gave me, who am I to argue?'.
You don't have to tell any employer you are BR unless you are going for an FSA regulated job.
You can open a Co-op cashminder over the phone and use the post office to bank at. The other account you can open is a Barclays cash account.

Plus co-op even supply the envelopes for you to use at the co-op and once you are in there internet banking you can even order envelopes to send to them but also ones for the post office. I live 40miles from the co-op and so far so good.:cheesy: K2nga :cheesy:

Barclays gave me an account but even though I am now (newly) discharged and employed they said they wouldnt even look at upgrading my account for 3 years- I didnt want an overdraft just to be able to bank online and upgrade my card to an electron (at least)
So today I phoned the co-op they accepted me for a basic account, which they said I could do internet banking with- and said they would review the account in 6 months and if I am a good girl they will consider upgrading me!!Don't get strung out by the way I look,

As far as I'm aware the Nil code is applied to your current situation,if you change jobs the nil code ceases.
Hope that helps

Dez I think you might be right there. So if DD goes BR on benefits the NT code will apply to those if they are taxable and then when you become employed your situation changes so the code reverts back to normal.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0
