Has this started recently? Have you changed anything recently - diet aswell as shampoo or conditioner? I have to wash my (coloured) hair every other day though usually by the second day it does start to look as though it needs doing (though not terrible). When I was younger I used to wash it once a week or so, so its definately changing!

do you condition the whole of your hair or just the ends? conditioner should only be used on the length of the hair and not the scalp. Herbal essences make quite a good shampoo for greasy hair. Also i know it sounds funny but washing up liquid is very good if you have greasy hair. Just use it like a normal shampoo and then condition the lengths afterwards as normal. Also try not to touch your hair too much through the day and wash your hair brush regularly
  • thanks guys i have a short bob so yes i suppose i do use the conditioner all over
i have oily skin too although dosnt seem as bad as my hair and appart from odd shine have good skin
fed up of washing it everyday

Hm, I have to wash my hair daily. About 18 hours after I wash it it starts to look awful. I've not found anything to help :( Even not conditioning at all doesn't help. And my scalp hurts... I wouldn't mind if I had long luxurious thick hair... :P

there must be a good shampoo out there for greasy hair
  • have you tried any of the head n shoulders type shampoos *or any of the shop brand same style ones*? avoid the 2 in 1s but i find that helps me when i'm having a greasy patch.

Just a thought, maybe if you went to boots or another highstreet shop and asked an assistant what is the best shampoo for greasy hair,I am sure they would only be too kind to help :)

    1. Use a mild shampoo, not one for greasy hair. The ones for greasy hair 'strip' oils from the scalp which irritates the scalp, making it produce more oil to compensate.

I swear by Philip Kingsley shampoo, mild or volumising, and I have greasy hair. It's expensive, but you can water it down by 50% so lasts for months. Never never use greasy hair formulations.

    2. Never condition the whole head. As noted above, only the ends, and again, use a light conditioner.
As your hair is treated, use a 'hot-oil' treatment once a week/fortnight to keep the condition and gloss.

    3. Buy Philip Kingsley scalp tonic. This balances out the skin and oil production without irritation. It is fab. I have a very sensitive scalp, and I can use this with no problems, and it really does work.
