ACER Laptop less than £270

Rite jus decided to post in here if any admin should choose to move this thread for better viewin go ahead.

The BT Website (Bt.com) sent me an email showin me the offers for this summer. Amongst them is an Acer Laptop For £267.99. It has:-
• Intel Celeron 550 processor
• 1GB Memory, 80GB Hard Drive
• Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic
• 15.4" TFT Display
there are a few other offers like MP3/MP4 players with bluetooth, and a Samsung camcorder.
I thought id better add it as martins last email had the £300 laptop on, his is better specs from what i saw but hey its still a laptop that works. (apart from it bein Vista that is lol)

I ordered an acer TM5320 from BT the other day and they were the cheapest place for the laptop. I took advice and apparently it is a great wee laptop :j - bargain city and will replace the really crap medion one I have at the moment that regularly dies and has serious hardware issues.

Celeron is Intel's stripped down processor, Vista Home Basic is not worthwhile.

It may be "cheap" but that doesn't always mean "good value".

Ask yourself what you will want to use a laptop for and go from there.
It may be that a little more money will repay itself over and over again.

    Good luck.

Vista and 1G RAM is not a brilliant combination even for Vista Home. You would be better off with 2G RAM.
  • I have had acer laptops and they are unreliable and the performance of the system diminishes after just a few months dont bother with them at one point the CP started smoking from the vents rang up the companty and they said there were component problems with the fans and the air intake . Not good replaced the laptop with vista home and still the same problems with the fan are in place avoid like the plauge.

well as for most laptops nowadays you really have to AVOID VISTA. there is a website called MISCO.co.uk where you can still order XP laptops. myself ive had very few problems with XP but most of my customers have always had incompatibility problems with vista. I run a small computer repair/call out business and the amount of times ppl have had an internet connection, hardware/software problem because of vista is unbelieveable. besides another 12-18 months and its Rumoured that M$ are bringin out another OS. due for release end of 2009/early 2010.

Just gotta say I bought my acer lappy 18 months ago, maybe 2 years...love it. Does exactly what I want it to do, faultless reliability, good build (although still quite light) - all you could ask for for <£400 (which was mega cheap when I got it...)
