Looking for crayola pens & pencils & other small items for shoe box appeal

Hi,

I just wondered if anyone could let me know if they see any small items in the sales that would be suitable for the shoe box appeal.

I'd really like to be able to get some crayola pens and pencils at a decent price but haven't seen them in the sale anywhere yet.

I'm also looking for other items such as teddies, puzzles, mini colouring books, small make up sets, accessories - anything suitable for teenage girls or boys really.

There seems to be some kind of £ shop in most towns these days where you can pick up loads of this sort of small item for £1 each. We have Poundsavers and one called the Pound Shop - there are some bargains to be had, though a lot of it can be rubbishy. Worth a look round though!

hi snoony, I don't suppose you could let me know the details of the shoebox appeal so I can get involved, also do you know if you can contribute second hand but good condition/quality items?

Asda usually do a cheap but OK brand of crayons, felt tips and coloured pencils around 17p a pack. I think they do Crayola too but I'm not sure if they are cheap.

Tesco's often have end of line stationary from about 17p - don't know if they have any going right now but it's always worth a look.

Fidget, I have previously sent boxes via Samaritans Purse (Operation Christmas Child). The website has lots of details and includes a list of suggested items to include. I am considering donating via a different organisation this year but the only other I know of is the Link Romania appeal. (Does anyone else know of anymore?)

A previous poster suggested donating gifts through Postpals.co.uk - I haven't looked into this yet though.

I do the shoe boxes and use £ shops and last year got loads branded stuff from it and educational bits and toys that were diff.

The shoebox appeal is ran by the samaritans at xmas, you fill a box up for either a boy or a girl withing an age range chosen by you and they get it for xmas. Its for children all over the world that dont normally get anything
