Growing and Selling Plants

I have got hold of loads of seeds for plants of the floral and eatable kind. I have thought of growing them and selling on the plants and/or veg from them (from the chilli/pepper seeds). I would get the pots from freeccle or friends and family. Would these sell do you think?

There are lots of people who sell outside their houses around where I live. I don't know how sucessful they are. Maybe a car boot?0

probably wrong time of year to do this now, most seeds get planted in spring
i found it easiest to sell at car boots but it definitely won't make you rich as people always want to pay peanuts and there are always plenty of other booters doing exactly the same hence prices are quite low
still a useful way of using up surplus plants though0 -
I know it won't make loads of money but every little helps and I love growing plants from seed anyway
Thanks for the repliesLucylema x :j0 -
My mum occasionally does quite well out of this - she'll grow extras in her greenhouse (so thoroughly enjoys herself), and then usually manages to at the very least "fund her habit", as it were. She focuses on festivals, school fetes, things like that, as she can charge a bit more than she could at a boot fair, but still really reasonable prices.
I think it's a great idea to get the pots from Freecycle - I'll drop that idea mum's way!£5 a day in December £179.59/£155£100 on STP by 31 January 09 £2.03/£1000 -
I recently bought a passion flower plant off e-bay, and would certainly buy plants online again. So maybe an e-bay shop is worth a thought.:heart2:Baby boy due 4th March 2011:heart2:0

I also love growing plants from seed and have seen on EBAY that there are lots of plants but don't how you would package and post them? All efforts are focused on paying off my credit card - was £5k Sept 08 - NOW £800! This will definately be gone by end of May 09. Then save save save save save save and a bit more saving!0

Plug plants are great, you don't need to grow them to maturity. I have bought them and some peeps put shredded paper above them to stop the plants falling out of their pots. A strong cardboard box and THIS WAY UP CONTAINS PLANTS should help too.
Please list on ebid they hardly have any and I would rather buy off there than ebay! Less expense for you too.0 -
how would i do plug plants??
I am thinking of selling the plants on ebay possibly but definitely asking the local shop if I could sell through them with a % to them of course and the internet at work oh and car boot sales etc.
I also have a grapevine in the garden and thinking of taking cuttings of that.
What sort of price would you pay? I am not ready to do anything this year as its a bit late now i think but in prepration for next year.Lucylema x :j0
