Sainsburys do a Taste the Difference version which was on sale last time I was in the shop, but they were out of stock!0

Proof is double the percentage, we don't really use proof in the UK, we use % ABV (Alcohol by Volume)
Irish meadow is made with wine rather than whiskey which is why it's cheaper.
Dooley's is the toffee one made with vodka.
Tesco do their own brand Baileys-alike that is made with whiskey, they also do a cheaper one made with wine.
must be about 17% abv then if thats what they all use, not much of a drinker so wouldnt know  lol. Irish meadow does also have whiskey in it, not just wine but as its mentioned third on the label probably not a great quantity.0 -
I've tried all the different cheaper ones and don't like them....However I bought Tesco's finest recently when it was on offer and it is gorgeous...just as lovely as Baileys. It comes in regular and coffee...worth the extra money I think0

I make my own - very nice but drink far too much of it ....hic!!
recipe is:
450ml whisky
400g UHT (long life) cream
400g condensed milk
1 heaped teaspoon instant coffee
½ teaspoon vanilla essence
Whizz up in blender, (have a taste to add more cream as necessary) bottle and store in fridge0 -
I have to say I've never noticed that the Baileys-a-like clones are made with anything other than whisky.
I've had a few copies and I would also recommend the Asda clone.2 Tickets to Blackrock Masters Tennis:j0 -
I don't like the Asda one at all. My favourite is Aldi's Balleycastle, I think its around £3.99 a bottle, that is really nice as a drink or in coffee.
I love their Peach Schnapps too with fresh orange juice.0 -
Asda Irish Knights is 14.5%, wine blend, and is now £3.40
Used to be £3 before the budget.0 -
Thanks again for all the suggestions. I ended up with a bottle of Queen Margot from Lidl for £5.45ish. More expensive than most of the suggestions, but it's nice. I can easily tell the difference between this and Baileys, but it's close enough for me given that I will only ever drink it in coffee. I might try one or two of the others when this one runs out. So that'll be Thursday then.0

I too am a Baileys drinker (when i get the chance
) and can vouch that Sainsburys own is lovely, it's the closest i've found to Original Baileys (and believe me i've tried a few!)
