Recycling scheme for HP 10 & 11 inkjet cartridges wanted

I work in a primary school and we used to send all our empty HP 10 & 11 inkjet cartridges to TRF and get extra Computers for Schools vouchers, but they have stopped accepting these cartridges.

I have hunted high and low fro somewhere else that will recycle them, but no-one seems to want them!

I can't bear the thought of sending them all to landfill  .
Does anyone know of a scheme that will still accept these cartridges, please?

HP10 Black = C4844AE
HP11 Cyan = C4836AE
HP11 Magenta = C4837AE
HP11 Yellow = C4838AE
Everything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the end

Hi! Thought I could help with this one, as I actually work for the Company. HP are very into recycling and these days include pre-paid return packets so the cartridges can be recycled. If you havent got a recycle package, the website offers pre-paid return labels that you print out. (Not ideal, I realise, but better than sending the things into landfill!) The website link is: www2.hp.com/ereturns/ordermaterials.do?__country=GB&__lang=en&segment=ho&focus=IJ - hope I have that right! :rolleyes2 If not, go to hp.com, select United Kingdom, (click the 2 chevons (>>) on the right of the Select box to get there!) search for recycle, - learn about product recycling, - recycle inkjet or Laserjet cartridges, - Consumers & Home Office users, - tell me more. Then you can print off the label and at least it dosent cost anything. And yes, I can confirm they really do recycle them!

I'm afraid although I work for an IT company, I know nothing about IT! So I am sorry if I have done something wrong with the weblink!

I would also imagine that other IT companies also run similar schemes too.

We also recycle all paper, cans, glass and plastics in all of the offices. In fact, we're not allowed waste paper bins now and have to use the recycling points dotted around the building!

Ooooh, while I think about it, theres also a list of cartridges that cannot be recycled at this time. Thankfully jackieblack yours are all OK! I thought I'd check them as it's easier for me to check seeing as I'm here!

    :j That's brilliant! Thank you so much!:T

I had had a quick look on HP's website but hadn't managed to find this (didn't think to do a search -doh!:o ). I've ordered some envelopes.

By the way, your link worked fine! :D (and I've add that page to my favourites for future reference.)

    Thanks again.

Wow, I'm so glad that I managed to help! Now I feel all warm and fuzzy!! Hopefully, we can spread the word and get more people recycling - and maybe, just maybe, we can get the cost of cartridges down too! :money:

Incidentally, I have no idea how the cartridges are recycled ... but I do know that they use corn cobs to make things like CD cases!

the woodland trust recycles them too and a pound per each recyclable cartridge is donated to the charity towards their work in woodland preservation.....

look at their site for more info: www.woodland-trust.org.uk/inkjet and for details about getting self addressed envelopes to send in your cartridges......

Unfortunately, they don't recycle the type of cartridges that I have.
