piglet, I suffer from sleep apnea, so I stop breathing when I'm sleeping as the airway collapses. The machine provides a constant air pressure into the airway to stop this from happening..so instead of your body waking itself up to startbreathing again, you get to sleep properly...added benefit is that it stops you snoring as the air pressure stops the soft palette from rattling..if it applies to your dh he ought to get it checked out..info here:

Aaah thanks for that jack, but he just snores cos he lies on his back, once he gets nudged onto his side (he! he!) he sleeps quietly then;)
