Sky + Multi Room. How Do I Get It Cheaper??

I already have a sky + box and will be moving to a new address in a few weeks.
I really need a 2nd or maybe 3rd sky + box at the new place.
I know sky will charge me a ridiculous fee.
Ive heard of other way to get the same service by buying the box seperatley or using a local company.
Any ideas will be great to get me started on my moneysaving mission!!

Sky charged us £50 to move, this included a free dish at the new place which is under guarentee for 3 months and the instalation service. We had ours done on a Sunday for no extra cost.

We now want to get an additional Sky+ box on multiroom. Let me give them a call and tell you when they offer me.

I have just had another sky+ box installed upstairs and I had to have a local installer do it as sky would not put the wiring through the loft and down into the bedroom. Anyway, I already had the multiroom upstairs, so the sky+ has just replaced it. It cost me £209 including installation. Both sky+ boxes work fine and worth every penny.

OK, so despite speaking to a trillion people..... I still got no definate answer - not sure if I can get a better dea having been a customer for so long. their site says it is £150 or £199 - not sure which as it is confusing, but I am not paying that! I'll try and speak to the sales people tomorrow and will let you know.

marbella, how did you get your sky+ box if another party installed it? My husband reckons he can do the wiring so I just need the box I guess. Not sure how that would work as I would still need the card and then sky would know someone else had installed if they had not supplied the box, surely?

On another note, at the same time I thought that I might as well cancel the movies as there never seems to be anything decent on and they offered me to keep them for 3 months at £3 a month and then to call back after that. I said I might as well as the kids will lose HSM! OK, I will lose HSM, you never kno, thre might be something on over the school holidays.

I pay £10 for multiroom upstairs and the independant installer supplied the sky+ box when he came and rang sky and paired the card up with them, job done.
Sorry forgot to add that I used the existing card that was been used for multiroom, hope that helps.

OK, I just called Sky and they told me that they have an 'offer' on the box at £75 but the installation is £60. Tbh I refuse to pay this because they only have to run one wire and £60 for this is extortionate when my husband can do it for free. They will not sell the box to me on it's own so have to have a rethink on that!!

If you are moving I wold suggest that you call them up and get the moving home package and while on the hone upgrade for £75 and see if you can get the installation of the 2nd box on the £50 moving home charge. That seems the best option.

We have been customers for around 10 years (maybe more) and they still would not budge on giving the installation for free!!
