Wedding Gift Payments!

Just found a super photographer (father of my daughters friend) but not sure he has my date yet!
Anyway, he offers a service of wedding gift payments to add to your pressie list. It can be any amount you want and an excellent way of getting something paid off the photos instead of unwanted presents or having the embarassment of asking for cash. Maybe this is common knowledge but it got me excited!

My friend got married last August and ask for gift vouchers from her photographer. Unfortunately only 3 couples did this to the value of £75 leaving her £1000 short. I still think people prefer to bring a present but if your guests go for it then its a great idea to help you keep costs down.It all works out good in the end.If it's not good, it's not the end!0

I would say just make sure that you can pay for it if others do not contribute to the costs like in the above scenario.
To be honest, I think i'd be a little bit relucant to contribute towards the wedding costs as a gift, and I don't think its less embarassing than asking for cash either, because thats what their are effectively giving, but just cutting out the middle man, i.e. you.0 -

I agree with this. I didn't want to ask for cash either so haven't mentioned any gifts in the invites but have primed mum and mum in law with list of shops for vouchers and a couple of guests have already mentioned giving us a cheque.
I wouldn't mind giving cash or vouchers as it saves the headache of searching around but would find it a bit cheeky to receive a request to pay for the photos I'd rather pay for my own meal :rotfl:Officially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended

It was just an idea for anyone who is struggling for an idea of what to buy. I dont expect anything but know that some of my family will ask what I want. I have the money to pay for the photos - they are not that expensive - but was just a thought.0

it is a good idea depending on the family and friends you have, you know your own family and what they would or would not like to do, we did a wedding list but have only given it to the people that have asked for it as i kno wsome of my distant relatives relatives and old friends would notlike the idea.now proud mum to 3 handsome boys :j latest one born 10/10/11:j0

We are doing this for our wedding as our photographer offers vouchers too. We have the money to pay for the photographer but we are asking for vouchers so that we can put them towards an album or prints afterwards, so its not like people will be contributing to the wedding costs, more like they are 'buying' us the extras that come afterwards. My family members have been ok about this, especially as the photographer just tells us a total amount that we have received to spend, rather than individual amounts from each person/family.0
