Bankruptcy proceedings

Hi i've read some of the other comments, and my question is similar, but i just need it clarifying. My partner has been contacted by Bishop Investigations & security services who they say they were instructed by Connaught Collections UK on behalf of their client 1st Credit Limited (CitiFinancial). They want to issue a Statutory Demand.
This debt is from over 10 years ago, he last made a payment in 1994, and the amount owed is £770.15. From reading the other comments, do you think
1. they will actually go through with this;
2. is it possible the debt has been written off and should we send one of those letters that has been mentioned before and who is the creditor I presume it is 1st Credit.
3. if the debt has been written off are these companies just trying to cash in, they are sending the letter to his address and to mine.
Sorry for so many questions, just not sure what to do about this.
Thanks
Niki

Aren't there things on other threads that say debts over 7 years old don't have to be repaid???? Try a search on 'old debts' for a start, and keep hunting.....Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0

try searching on "time barred", anything over 6 years is no longer valid as long as the debt hasn't been acknowledged in that time. There seems to be a spate of companies buying up these old debts and trying to scare people into paying them...0

You will find the info you need here http://www.nationaldebtline.co.uk/england_wales/factsheet.php?page=25_liability_for_debts_and_the_limitation_act0
