Or should it be pride comes before the crash?

Does anyone else get a warm feeling every month and feel a little glee at certain users of this forum that their 'perceived' wealth is diminishing every month. That their get rich quick scheme is put into reverse gear?

I remember 6-7 months back BTL Bois would trounce anyone talking about a crash.. but now we are in full swing and it doesn't look like its going to stop anytime soon. I can ignore the biased and illogical reasons why houses will recover short term... as I have one thing they dont.... evidence.

So I dedicate this to you Pickles and Mr Broderick... You provide me with a warm fussy feeling every month..

    Ahhh :)

    You're welcome neas.

quote ; 'has anyone ever fallen into a car negative equity trap'

Yes...it's quite easy actually if you buy with finance..dealers have about £1000/1500 profit across a second hand car, it's common for people to owe more than the car is worth when they want to sell. Ax
    Don't believe everything you think.

Hi Anne £1000/1500 profit doesn't mean negative equity. Dealers take cars in at trade value hence the mark up because we are retailing it, warranty,service,m.o.t, r.a.c, valet, fuel, mats, not much PROFIT left after all this you know and somebody has got to be paid at the end of all this.....

I do understand where you're coming from, neas, although I think you phrased your initial post badly - gloating at those losing out from falling prices is obviously in bad taste.

On the other hand, gloating at the fact that the specific individuals who've been posting on here bragging about their 'wealth (ie equity) and 'intelligence/bravery' (ie lucky timing) are now about to lose some of their windfalls is an entirely different matter. I think that's probably what you meant, and I'm with you in emotion (ie schadenfreude), though in reality have better things to do with my time than spend it gloating. (Like work out how much better off I am as a result.)

As prices fall, yes, I am filled with a mixture of joy/relief - nice to have this boost several times a month now, as all the various indices are released - but that is based primarily on my own improved financial position as a result, rather than others' worsening position. (Obviously, the former is a result of the latter, but not my fault, so I don't spend any more time feeling bad about it than I expect people whose houses rose in value over the last 10 years spent feeling bad about me).

No, it was the homeowner's decade to feel good, now it's the turn of the non-homeowners. Such is life.

More rubbish from the troll...believe me i own a home and wouldn't swap places with you hence i'm feeling good...feel damn good...

Yes...I used to sell cars for a large dealership...the customers car loses the dealers mark up as soon as they drive off the forecourt...they bring it back in X months to trade and get offered trade price...Some times they still owe more than the car is worth. Never mind...work it into the new deal.;) Ax

    I've been Money Tipped!
a bit beside the point but we almost bought a prius a couple of years ago too and a friend who does something even more depresing than HP follow...he works out the maths for the environmental effect of things....said for greeness sake for us, with a small car, it would not be any better. For fuel consumption it certainly would have been though. Not buying then, however, has probably saved us somethung because we've decided to pray daily that my car keeps healthy for another 18months and than see what is available in 'green' vehicles used.

i know the car isn't the point of the thread, but its the bit that really is more interesting.

Each post you write makes it more and more glaringly obvious that you are nothing but a bitter, jealous, nasty piece of work. I am unsure why anyone should feel happy about the misfortune of others, nevermind gloat.

So many people simply got lucky when they bought their house prior to the boom and I imagine it was quite a buzz for Joe Public to realise that their biggest asset had doubled in perceived value. However there are those that gloat about this wealth and you are just as bad as them.

Embarrasingly, I am in the same category as you and house prices coming down will benefit me as a FTB with a large deposit. However, rather than jump onto a forum, steal a few peoples opinions that benefit myself and then post them as my own, attempting to appear informed, I will sit back, take an objective look at all the information as a whole and use my own intelligence to build up an opinion.
