Attending court, do i have to go

I have my BR court hearing at the end of this month (July). The court is in central London on the Strand, I live in leafy Dorset. Do I have to attend this hearing or is it a matter of rubber stamping the paper work.
The inland revenue are making me BR, and although I wrote to the court to enquuire if I could have the hearing moved to my local court (Who do deal with bankruptcy) the IR wrote to me not the court, telling me that I could not move the hearing venue. Is this true or are they fobbing me off because they do not want to do the travelling.
I am loathe to travel up to London,
1. The cost envolved with this return journey.
2. I am about to have a knee replacement operation, and travelling that distance is not going to be easy or good for my knee.
Is this a rubber stamp job, as I am not going to contest this in any way, or do I have to attend?

As far as i was aware the reason they wont more your court is that this must be the nearest court to the Inland rev so they arent about to help you out.
A friend of mine who was in a similar situation to you did not go to court as like yourself. Im not sure if this has now changed but i would call the court as they might want a signed form from you or letter to say that you dont contest the BR plus with your knee i think it would be unfair for them to expect you to get to London anyway.
Good luck with it and i expect someone else may have a better answer but if not you can always ring National Debtline or CAB for advice:cheesy: K2nga :cheesy:
