Advice about sticking a tile to a box photoframe

Hello
I am looking for some advice - I have had some painted pottery done ( Daisy's hand prints on ceramic tiles) and I have been out today and bought some box photo frames as I want to give them as gifts.
I need to fix the ceramic tile to the photoframe but the backing isn't very pretty so I was just thinking of either painting it or putting some nice coloured card then stick the tile too it.
Right - if you are still with me - Would the tile stick to a wood painted surface if I paint the background?
or if I stick cardboard to the frame then my tile would it stick?
Any help / advice would be really appreciatted.
Many Thanks
Alison x

Hi,
Sticking on card then putting the tiles on is likely to make the card and tiles fall off. Painting it should be ok but a very light sanding after painting should keep the colour and help the adhesive and tiles to stick. Some places sell coloured grout or you could try polyfilla with a little food colouring in that should do the trick. hope this helps trisha xCross Stitch Challenge Member Number 20

Ooh coloured grout is a good idea... Thanks for the paint tip. I will get down to B+Q and have a look.
Thanks so much for the reply.

Hi Alison,
Been talking to my sister toaday and she said the pound shops often have coloured grout. Don't know if you have any pound shops near you but might be worth a look if you do.
