Hi all. I currently have a sharp 42" hd ready lcd tv. I want to upgrade to one that has full hd. I am not sure of the best places to buy, or which tv's are the best. I also don't want to spend a fortune. Any ideas will be gratefully recieved. Thanks, Becky

Have you got a full 1080p HD source?
My Sky+HD doesn't go that high. 1080i is possible.
My PS3 supports 1080p for blu-ray movies but there are few games that go to this detail level as its too hard for the programmers apparently.
I'm not sure how much more detail and picture quality you would get.
You may want to visit an AV specialist shop to see the difference as Comet and the like will probably not be able to switch HD sources correctly to compare on the same sample material.I beep for Robins - Beep Beep

That's the exact same question I was going to ask.
If you don't have a full HD source then it is pointless and in fact, it is a bad move to buy a full HD tv as you area likely to get a worse signal.
E.g. if you have a normal SKY/Freeview/Ariel input and put it into a FULL HD tv you are likely to get a rubbish picture, at least compared to a HD ready tv which is much better at SD input.Amo L'Italia0 -
Thanks for your replies. I have sky+ at the moment and was thinking of maybe upgrading to hd if the price came down. My hubby plays the xbox alot and wanted the full hd for that and watching films, but from your replies its probably gonna be a bad move!!! Becky0

It's not necessarily bad - not as simple as that.
It's just, it's a common misconception that a FULL HD tv is better than a HD ready. However, paying an extra £300 may be a bad move if you tend to watch more SD than HD stuff.
Also if you sit over 5' from the TV then you really won't notice the difference, plus you'd ahve to get a TV about 50" or more in size to really benefit.
So in my opinion it's not the best move.
