Do I sell Theatre Tokens or keep in case I need them?

I have £50 in Theatre Tokens that I have collected through Nectar points so they haven't really cost me anything. Now I love going to the theatre but it is obviously a luxury I will need to cut down on at the moment.

Do I put the theatre tokens on ebay and try to get some money for them or keep them as they have no expiry date on and use them for the full value

My own view, for what it may be worth, would be to keep them. You are never going to get their true value on ebay and 'dealing with debt' is not all about going without the odd 'luxury'. Indeed their will be times when you are feeling so down that a trip to the theatre could be just what you need to retain your sanity.
    But that's only my view.

What do you think you could get for them on eBay?
Have you got friends or family who are going to the theatre anyway and would take them off you at face value?

Looking on ebay there is £50 theatre tokens at £46.50 which would only be a small loss. Well that's if the bidding gets that high.

My friends and family don't really go to the theatre unless they come with me!!

I am sure I would use them at some point so would it be worth keeping them or is the money, even if it is only a small amount, better so I can put it towards debt?

Would you usually pay for your tickets in cash? You could use the vouchers instead next time you go and pay the same amount off your debt with your own money, if you see what I mean?

You know that is a good idea and I would probably never have though of it! I swear it is the most obvious things we miss :rotfl:

  • Have been trying to use my Theatre tokens for 18 months. Rather a flawed process as i live in Bournemouth and the local BIC will not take them unless you book in person.
which for me is not very practical and also means the very popular events are sold out via the internet by the time one can get to the booking office
Apparently there are other theatres which take vouchers over the phone but not dear old BIC in little old Bmth. Still well and truly in the dark ages i regret to report. Think that as nobody seems to get any money for these tokens and Theatre tokens are very tricky to get a refund from , they are going to eventually end up going in the bin !!
rather a shame as they were a very special and generous b,day present and to throw them away does seem bizarre. iFor the record ... I would NEVER ever buy Tokens for anyone . Just give them the money .. this has been the worst ever b'day present i have ever had, resulted in hours of agro, emails and generally been a most irritating experience.

I absolutely lvoe the theatre and I would treat myself to a night there with the vouchers- unless I was having a really tight month like I did last month where I could barely feed my family in which case I would sell them. If you can afford your bills and household stuff treat yourself and enjoy it!
