Homemade Shower Scrub? Any ideas?

Options
Hello,

I really prefer using a scrub over shower gel or a bar of soap. Somehow I just feel cleaner . Well the jar of shower scrub I bought in the half price sale is almost all gone...yesterday doing my shopping at Tesco I found a a coconut, shearbutter and sugar version for £7.99!!!! The scrub did smell nice however citrus scents may be nice to try.

Do you make shower scrubs at home? Please will you share your recipe...wouldn't mind trying to make my own as long as it't not £8.00 for a little jar and ofcourse good for the skin : ).

Thanks as always.

    Hi Barbiegirl,

Queenie's oatmeal body scrub was very popular amongst Old Stylers. You can find her recipe in the first post on this thread:

    I've been Money Tipped!
Any base oil or olive oil - a good glug should do (only guesstimations here!)
2-3 spoonfulls of fine grain salt or granulated sugar
1-3 drops of essential oil such as lavender, mandarin, benzoin or eucalyptus

Mix together until is paste like but still a bit oily
    Use after a shower gel
work in small brisk circles all over - carefull on the abdomen though then rinse.

After wards your skin will be soft but with a layer of oil left (water will just run off the skin) dont worry you wont turn in to an oil slick but the oil will soak in over night.

The best results are about 8-12 hours after the scrub is applied

I swear by the exfoliating gloves that you can buy in Boots etc - mine are from Morrisons and cost 99p, bargain! You can then use them with whatever soap/showergel you're using and they really work, my skin feels so lovely and smooth afterwards, and body lotion sinks in really well. Less messy than most body scrubs as well, no fragrance to clash with your perfume, and I can justify the odd bar of soap from Lush this way as it goes further!
